Quirkiness

Eight Odd Quirks:
1. I hate nail polish. I'm like a cat with stuff on its paws. Shake, shake, gahh getitoff.
2. I am incredibly particular when it comes to skin care and cosmetics. I am fiercely ingredient loyal. If a moisturizer doesn't contain certain ingredients, I won't want to use it.
3. The only shades of lipstick I will wear are deep reds or pinks that mimic the natural flush of bitten or kissed lips. I don't understand lipsticks that are brown, purple, orange, or fuschia.
4. Gory horror movies scare me so badly I have nightmares for weeks. No matter what people tell me, I still refuse to watch certain films.
5. I am never without lip balm. I hate dry lips and get twitchy without balm (I find Lip Balm Anonymous insulting and stupid; lips need moisture, they cannot produce their own).
6. I have a severe problem with remembering and giving directions. My brain just cannot comprehend how to properly give directions on its own. Unless I travel to a place over and over, memorizing landmarks, I can't find my way anywhere without some sort of help.
7. I hate tickling in all forms. It aggravates my hypersensitivity. I find it torturous and painful, and I have been known to injure people who have tickled me or given me zerberts.
8. After discussing it with my physician/gynecologist a while back, I've learned that I actually have tocophobia -- fear of pregnancy and childbirth. It's mild, but it finally puts a few things in perspective.

I'm terrible with directions too, mostly because I usually let Anthony drive. And then I daydream or talk and don't pay attention. I'm getting better at this lately though because I'm determined to know where I'm going, at least in my own neighborhood/city.

And I HATE being tickled too.

1. Over here we call it nail varnish since polish is designed to produce shine without being a permanent layer.
2. I'm also particular, preferring women without make up because it looks cleaner and more natural.
3. I remember reading that the lipstick colour was originally used to attract people to the colour of their genitals, so I can understand browns and reds and light skin colours but orange and vibrant pinks seem out of tune. These days women like to match their clothing, so orange clothing with orange lips, etc.
4. I don't like gore in horror movies but I don't like horror movies very much anyway.
5. Lip balm is better then lipstick but I lick my lips and suck them to dampen them so I've never needed it.
6. Directions aren't a problem for me but it takes me time to get the quickest route and since I walk everywhere I have to think about drivers too.
7. I know how you feel about being tickled, its painful for me too.

Licking the lips is actually worse than not using balm -- dries them out!

Oh, then it makes me wonder if that should be the natural state of lips as dry until we need to use them.

Is there something harmful from consuming lip balm in quantities over a year? I found this link on lip balm toxins: http://www.natural-skincare-authority.com/lip-balm-toxins.html

No, not really. Those ingredients are generally harmless in very small amounts, even over long periods of time. They're not good for you, but they won't kill you.
The issue with lip balm is that if you're going to apply it, you should use balms containing vegetable and plant oils, not petroleum derivitives or mineral oils, because petroleum products don't offer any moisture or nourishment.

You could also say that petroleum products provide a moisture barrier so that your natural moisture is trapped below the film of balm.

What would you say would be the cause of addiction to these products?

There's no such thing as product addiction -- that's a myth.

Petroleum does provide a moisture barrier, but not moisture itself.

i'm terrible at directions too. i cant give 'em, i cant follow 'em. if i have to go ask for directions, and someone's telling me, it's like i'm staring at them, hearing "blah blah blah blah" and then i feel bad, so i'm "thank you" and leave when theyre done like i knew what they were talking about ^^;; so i know just how it feels.
