There oughtn't even be a debate, really. Yet I recall being told off rather thoroughly when I suggested both genres be combined under the heading "Speculative Fiction" - which would keep the SF. It makes more sense anyway, given how much overlap there is between the genres and the fact that most bookstores and libraries keep science fiction and fantasy in the same area, if not intermingled.
