Well, the season finale of "True Blood" was extremely full of shock, bizarreness, WhatTheFuckness, and enough deviations from the books to make it a totally different entity. But I'm finally okay with it. It's only "loosely" based, after all. Alan Ball will do what he will no matter how the books are written. The last ten minutes of the episode were proof of that. I am sure Alan will take a decent chunk of "Club Dead" to add to Season Three, but more than likely, he will deviate greatly.
Charlaine Harris will continue to write her books as she sees fit, and they will be awesome. And I will just enjoy "True Blood" as a sort of deviation.
However, I will still consider slapping people who judge and whine and complain about the characters without at least having made an effort read the book series, or read about the book series. But that's just me. I would rather understand the source material before judging an adaption.

(Yes, I welcome spoilers in comments.)

That's how I feel! I adore the books, and they will always be true canon to me, but the show is fun. I love the addition of Jessica (though not at first) to the cast, and Lafayette is far too awesome to have been killed off.

I hope things don't get too awkward on set now that Stephen Moyer and Anna Paquin are engaged and Alex Skarsgard and Evan Rachel Wood are dating. Because Sookie/Eric is my OTP, and it's been fun to watch the "SOOKEH IS MAHN! >:[ >:[ >:[ " drama play out.
