What do you do to boost your mood? How do you find pleasure in something when you can't find pleasure in anything?
Dopamine levels are just... yeah.
I have been faking happiness all day, because sometimes that works well.

Date: 2009-12-09 12:42 am (UTC)I also spend time with my farm family...the horses are great mood lifters if I can get out there with them. If we have goat kids, they're better than any antidepressant known to humankind. The cats always bring me a smile too. And then there's my clown of a Corgi--that dog was born to entertain.
If I can't get time with the farm family, a visit to icanhascheezburger.com or any of its related sites can do the trick.
Good luck with the attitude adjustment...I know how you're feeling and wish I could help more!

Date: 2009-12-09 09:00 am (UTC)Its not dopamine that drives you to pleasure, its your serotonin levels. Pasta, bread, starchy vegetables, potatoes and cereals are a good source of serotonin.
The melatonin/serotonin balance is changed by exposure to sunlight. A 30 minute walk in the morning, building to 2 hours a day will help your serotonin levels recover and help diminish the melatonin you have built up during the night.
I don't know if a sun shower or tanning salon could help with short full body exposure UV rays, as they can increase the serotonin levels quickly and increases your body's vitamin D levels.
Do you have a light box? Apparently high lux light boxes will improve serotonin levels during the day. Use in the evening hours will affect melatonin production and affect sleep.
