A stranger's rant
Jun. 20th, 2003 10:04 amSomeone on my mailing list said this. I wanted to share.
"All I can offer in regard to the state of the world is this, and it isn't always something people want to hear.
Sometimes, you just have to stop caring. Bad things do happen to good people. Whoever said life was fair didn't expect anyone to believe him.
That's what I mean by "stop worrying about other people, worry about yourself".
That doesn't mean shut yourself off from people, but you have to realize that caring too much about things you have no control over doesn't do you any good. When you die, all the other innocent people who've been getting abused since day one on this Earth are not going to be buried in the coffin with you. Sometimes, the only way to not go nuts is just build up a hard callous and try and ignore it. It's sad, but sometimes it works.
Because if there IS a God, he obviously doesn't care about the world's problems. And if He can't be bothered to care, then neither can I.
I do like each and every one of you very much, and I'd feel terrible if anything happened to any of you. But I have to be honest: The only person I care about at the end of the day is me.
There's nothing else I can say about the other stuff right now, so I'll get back to it."
I'm starting to see the truth and logic here. At least, some of it...
Damn.
