espresso, painkillers, and amethyst
Jun. 3rd, 2006 03:04 pmAdam and I woke up around ten, with Tuesday demanding pettings. I was still tired, so Adam went downstairs while I continued to wake up. As I was getting dressed, I heard screamingly loud bursts of music coming from the living room. I turned on the big bedroom TV, but the boom from downstairs was distracting. I went to the living room to ask him to turn it down. He was vaccuuming and didn't want to lower the volume. Anyone who knows me is a aware that I have serious trouble being around incredibly loud noise and music. So, I did the only logical thing I could think of: I left. I grabbed my purse and yelled at Adam to call me when he was done with the loudness. He said I was being obnoxious, but it wasn't in a mean way.
I walked down to the bus stop and grabbed the 57 to the Shady Grove metro. The Flower Hill shopping center was in the opposite direction, but to get there I would have to cross the street to the other bus stop, and I didn't feel like braving Muncaster Mill Road's deadly noon traffic rush. Besides, I could use a good scenic bus ride. The 57 came quickly anyway, and once I reached the metro station, I waited for the 57 to take me back, then got on. Adam called. It had been about forty minutes since I'd left the house. He was done vaccuuming and playing music. I told him I would be home soon; I wanted to get coffee at the shopping center. I got off across from Giant Food. Wandered the grocery store for a while, then went to Starbucks and sat with my vanilla double espresso with milk and sugar. Then I got back on the bus and came home.
I decided to go upstairs and peruse my old jewelry box that I'd had in Sag Harbor and during college. I'd found it hidden in the closet. I had not gone through this little box in about six years. There wasn't much. I found the clear quartz pendant I'd been missing; it's double-terminated and thick. I could certainly use quartz right now. It's now hanging on a longer chain around my neck, so I have the flower of life pentacle on one small chain and the quartz crystal on another. But I was very surprised to find two other pieces of jewelry that I had completely forgotten about: A silver celtic trinity knot ring with an oval amethyst stone, pale lavender color... and a silver eternity band set all around with tiny rubies, strawberry pink color, separated by a flowery Celtic pattern. Surprisingly enough, they both fit my right middle finger, which is the most difficult finger to find rings for: It's anything between a size 5.5 to a size 6 depending on the cut of the ring. The amethyst ring feels like a 5.5, the ruby ring is definitely a 6. I am wearing the amethyst now. It is incredibly soothing. I like having several gemstones to play with so that is all right. I remember now; I got both rings back in college, as gifts.
I took a naproxyn, which upset my stomach a little. But at least my back isn't in pain anymore. I ate some Ritz crackers and took some Esdifan.
Damn. Sciatica flare-up. Yoga time. Hamstring stretches are best. I had to do those all the time in physical therapy. I called my physician yesterday and left a message to see if I can get an acupuncturist referral; hopefully my insurance can cover acupuncture. It was the only thing that saved me ten years ago.
Now my husband is watching Nascar racing and the cats are playing with toys. Whee.
