kitten update part 1
Mar. 4th, 2007 04:41 pmAround noon, the household drove to the shelter to see the kitten, as we were supposed to. I took her out of her cage (she clung to me) and Jason and Dan pet her and cooed at her, and then I put her down on the table (she clung to me), and the boys took turns stroking her and cooing at her and she in turn mewed and purred and chirped and nuzzled them and licked their hands. Jason checked out the other cats, who enjoyed his attention. Dan looked at me and said, "Okay, she's awesome, you win," and Jason said, "Yeah, I really like this cat." And I picked her up to put her back in her cage (she clung to me) and we went back out to the waiting room. Jason filled out the neuter form for Jupiter and handed over the cash, and got the coupon to bring to a vet clinic on the list (so they are aware that our current male cat will be altered; they will spay our kitten for free as well). As it turns out, one of the guys working behind the counter -- Dave -- was an old friend of Jason's; they went to high school together. Small world, indeed.
So now, the only thing left is to have one of them call me in a few days and make an appointment for someone to come over and interview us at home. I also had to give them the phone number for my parents; whose names are actually on the townhouse's lease, because approval needs to be gotten by everyone involved with the home. However, I think we'll get her. More updates to follow.
And I have already picked out a new name. It's rather mythological and appropriate.
