First snow of 2007
Dec. 5th, 2007 09:56 amAnd the idiots came out.
It was a mere dusting, you know. And yet traffic was at a crawl. The bus was ten minutes late and took twice as long to get to the metro station. Oy.
People keep telling me that snow is wonderful, snow is beautiful, just wait, why don't I like snow? I have my reasons, thank you, but I don't like snow. I don't like ice, or cold weather, or fierce winds. Or the winter season at all. I just don't. It's nice that some people love it. Great for them, I'm happy that they love it so. But I don't.
This morning I got a nice surprise. Penelope came out from under the bed on her own, and jumped up on the dresser with the communal food and water bowls to have breakfast. She was thrilled to see me and was happy to have me pet and scritch her. Jupiter, curious as ever, jumped onto the dresser, and of course Penelope, being so shy, panicked and jumped off and ran back under the bed. However, she stayed near the edge, her head poking out, so I could pet her and soothe her. I made Jupiter stay off the dresser so she could eat in peace. He gave me a look that said, "Okay, I get it. Here, I'll stay on the bed." And he did. And Penelope ate her breakfast and returned to her spot under the bed at the edge. One of these days she'll come around and realize that Jupiter and Luna are only trying to be her friends. I'm patient.
