Chapter 28: Done
Aug. 2nd, 2008 04:32 pmThe shortest chapter so far is finished.
A while back, I was asked if my characters ever did anything so unexpected that it shocked the hell out of me, nearly going against my story ideas.
I found myself writing the scene at the chapter's beginning without thinking about where it might go. And then it went someplace I really had not expected. Good show, writerbrain. And all the while I kept thinking, "Hey, you guys weren't supposed to do that until maybe the last chapter! What the hell? I mean, not that I don't love the scene, but why did you do it now?"
However, my writerbrain is sneaky. This scene might just make the rising action and climax much more interesting. The event would make Dana feel more guilty for what she plans to do, and it would be a good excuse for Ian's anger.
I wish I could give my writerbrain a high-five.
Also, it gives me an excuse to research all the qualities of amethysts and garnets.
I'm drinking coffee with cinnamon powder, dark chocolate syrup, and milk. It is delicious.
