So, Adam keeps teasing me about my birthday present, saying that he's taken pictures and videos of its journey from Chicago to Gaithersburg. Apparently, it is cute, it is cuddly, and it goes "boing." He told me it is smaller than our kitten and has huge eyes.
I can only estimate that it is some sort of animal-shaped toy.
He called to tell me he was finally at the Baltimore airport, and after the plane had landed, he asked the pilots if he could bring my present to the cockpit to take pictures. They let him do so after he said it was for his little girl.
He won't actually be home until later this afternoon, unfortunately, due to his presence being requested at a job at the Baltimore convention center. But at least he will be home.

I don't remember what I'd been watching beforehand, but when my channel surfing landed on Across The Universe at eleven last night, I stayed because I'd heard what a trip the film was. "Trip" is a mild word.
The insanity, I think, started when Lucy, Jude, and their friends meet up with Dr. Robert, played by Bono. They drink LSD-laced Kool-Aid. Electric Kool-Aid, hah hah. Bono sings "I Am The Walrus" and I think I lose it. I feel like I've dropped acid. And then we get to the cult circus, with Mr. Kite - played with pure insanity by Eddie Izzard who does a spoken-word version of "Being For The Benefit Of Mr. Kite!".
And I completely freak out.
I am skittering back against my couch, flailing at my television and gibbering. The phrase "Those are Blue Meanies!" is repeated over and over.
It is a nightmare and I am not expecting it and I grab Rose, who had jumped up beside me, and I hug her until it is over.
Later, when Max is drafted to the tune of "I Want You (She's So Heavy)" I am prepared for the visual insanity of Uncle Sam posters coming to life and screaming, while soldiers are prepped and prodded and dropped into war zones.
However, I calmed down and felt much better at the end. It was the rooftop scene, when Jude sings "All You Need Is Love" (after Max sings "Hey Jude" to him). Jude and Lucy, staring at each other after having been separated... and Jude catches his breath. In that breath were words like, "Look at you. There you are. You're so beautiful. Come to me. I love you. I cherish you."
It was the same breath that Adam had taken when he saw me walking down the aisle on our wedding day, although ours was not a Beatles song. I walked down the aisle to "Storybook Love" from The Princess Bride.

And then I shut off the television and went to bed, and I had crazy trippy dreams. Of course I did. Bono was a walrus dancing with Blue Meanies in a circus, after all.
