Kiss Me Deadly
Aug. 26th, 2009 07:10 amMm. I'm an idiot.
You know how you unconsciously bite and nibble the inside of your lower lip until it bleeds a little and then you can't stop playing with it and you keep worrying at it with your tongue? I did that last night, and now the right half of my lower lip is beautifully swollen. It's fascinating, really. First time that ever happened. From the outside, all I see is some swelling, and if I pull the lip away from my mouth, I can see the tissue that's turned white as the flesh tries to heal. Damn, but I love biology.
Adam suggested that I rinse with Listerine and hydrogen peroxide for a day or two until it heals. Eventually, once it starts healing, I will be using balms that contain neem oil and tamanu oil and other anti-inflammatory ingredients that sooth skin irritation (Vicki, your Gaia Oil might be just the thing).
I just have to figure out if there are any foods that will aggravate the wound. We made pasta with shrimp and vegetables in a cheese sauce for dinner, and I'd like to have the leftovers.
I almost look like I could be related to Angelina Jolie. Almost. (Or at least Shiloh.)
I should go back to sleep for a while. Adam just left for work -- he's off to New York City again. He'll be home in a day or two.
Any anecdotes and suggestions regarding bitten and swollen lips?
