Roast Beef Sandwich of the gods?
Jan. 2nd, 2011 02:48 pmMy husband just made me the best roast beef sandwich that I have ever had. No, really.
Artisan whole grain kalamata olive bread, toasted. Ricotta cheese smeared on lightly. Two crisp snow peas. Two or three thin tiny slices of roast beef. Black pepper. A thin slice of Dubliner cheddar cheese. Himalayan sea salt. Alfalfa sprouts on top. Open face sandwich, served with round pickle slices seasoned with sea salt and pepper.
(The bread was on sale at Safeway. The ricotta was generic store brand at Giant. The snow peas were on sale at Giant. The roast beef was on sale at Safeway -- and here we are lucky because we have an old deli slicer in our kitchen with a story behind it. The Irish cheese was bought at Costco in a five-pound block. The alfalfa sprouts were on sale at Giant. The Himayalan sea salt, well, I bought that by the pound online at a discount.)
So, right, it was awesome. I'm going to make myself another one.
