May as well dance

[livejournal.com profile] shadesong said it first, but I've always thought it:

"I have had comments to the effect of wondering how, with my medical shit alone, I can be so 'bubbly', and why I go out and Do Stuff even though I know it'll hurt more later.

Because I have a choice. I can sit at home in pain, or I can go to the park with friends in pain. I can curl up on the couch in pain, or I can go to a concert in pain. The pain is a constant. Fine. Accepted. Now what am I gonna do? If I'm going to be in pain anyway, I may as well dance."

very positive outlook! and i agree totally. if youre gonna be in pain, might as well be in pain while doing something you enjoy instead of letting the pain own you and run your life.

"If I'm going to be in pain anyway, I may as well dance."

This could be used on one of those awareness bracelets. Maybe there is a way that you can start one?

Ah, now I'd have to ask Shadesong about that. ;)

Very cool. Of course, there are the times when the pain makes it impossible to dance or do [fill in the blank], but I agree - if I can, I will, despite the pain. Or even because of the pain, because it makes me realize all the more how special and important it is to do the fun and good and happy things when it's possible to do them. :)

Yeah...

I received an email this morning regarding handling pain:
http://www.emofree.com/Pain-management/handle-pain-pat.htm

Dancing is a nice way to celebrate pain, but we all have different levels of pain and types of pain. Take the dulling pain of a wisdom tooth coming through or the sharp stabbing pain of an ingrowing toenail to the throbbing pain of a thumb you hit with a hammer.

*hugs*
