My kitty is the same way, which is why we can't have other cats in our household. We did have a temporary roomie for awhile with 2 cats and after several months she did finally *start* to warm up to one of them (the male one, of course). It's possible that with a lot of work - you can get her to come around. But, yea, some cats (especially female ones) are just too territorial to share their humans with other cats. My kitty lived with four other kitties before she became mine, and she was the smallest of the bunch and so got picked on a lot, which I think is why she's turned into such a bully when confronted with another cat now.
