I hate blogging about politics, so I'll just say this.

Dear Sarah Palin:
Stay the fuck away from the wolves, or I'll pay someone $150 to bring me your foreleg. As in your arm. Maybe both arms.
Oh, and stay away from my uterus, my sexuality, and my spirituality, too.
But mostly the wolves.
Thanks.

(Note: I am neither conservative nor liberal, I am Centrist. I am fiscally conservative and socially liberal. I fully support abortion, gay marriage, gun ownership, personal freedom, and small government. Extreme left-wingers scare me as much as extreme right-wingers scare me. I don't read Daily Kos and I don't listen to Rush Limbaugh as they both tend to make me physically ill. I refuse to give in to the ranting and screaming and hollering and shit-throwing and name-calling on both sides. I try to stay rational. I agree with almost all of my husband's conservative libertarian views happily. I don't call any politician an annoying nickname just because it's trendy, ie Chimp or Shrub. I hate fighting over personal political viewpoints.
But if any politician goes anywhere near the wolves in this country with intent to harm, and I will do my best to bite hard and without mercy.)

That's not political, that's just sensible.

I'd like to hope so.

Sometimes it reaches the point where you just have to stand up for what is right, as distasteful as all the muck around politics might be.

Yes.

I hate Palin's politics, but I also feel sickened by the attacks being made on her personal life, her gender, her family, her children. So if I'm gonna stand up against her, I'm going to try and play as fair as possible. She supports the killing of wolves via aerial hunting, which I find immensely deplorable, so I'm sticking with that.

^ This.

From what I've read, a lot of her views on things suck, but I don't think she should be attacked because of her personal life!

WTF is this thing with the wolves? Did she just wake up one day and decide to wage war on them? I love wolves so this makes me sad. Are they a pest in any way at the moment in the US?

She's been involved with aerial hunting laws for years; I'm currently reading up more about that.
Wolves aren't a pest anymore; their populations have actually dwindled due to being hunted, and in many places they are still endangered.

That's really sad.

And I don't see aerial hunting as honourable in any way.

You said it just perfectly!! Yes! Our bodies, our choices, nature's wolves.

Thanks. I really hate all the mud-slinging and I wish it would stop. That includes the attacks on Mrs. Palin's personal life and family. I may not like her politics at all, but she's a strong, proud person with a good life, and to drag that through the mud is just as horrible as anything else.

hmmmm well, I do agree the mud slinging is uncomfortable & difficult tho' *education* is very important. Knowing facts about someone is not mud-slinging. It's relevant that people realize she is out there on the Right fringe and full well believes it is her & her faction's duty to legislate very important & personal choices in MY life... and your life.. and my kids lives. I am glad to know about her so I make sure I don't see her as a strong, proud person and decide I want a woman in office so I overlook the danger. Better informed than sorry....

Exactly... yes, education. The problem with the mudslinging is that most of the people doing it are not fully educated. They mostly want to latch onto something, anything, that they can use against her. I never thought I'd defend someone like her, but really, people need to know what they're doing.

This is a great quote, and one I completely agree with.

how can you be fiscally conservative and socially liberal? Or could you explain those terms what they mean to you? Curious...

to me it means cutting/limiting social welfare spending while fighting for human rights at a micro level. how can that be? of course, i wish that someday fiscal conservation also meant saving our treasury from the fed and banks, and not giving out subsidies to corporations.

Aerial hunting of wolves? huh what? Why would anyone support that?

It still shocks me to the core that anyone would support it. There's no just cause, no reason. For this, it doesn't matter what Palin's political association is, it truly disturbs me on a deep level.
