Last night, Adam returned from New York City with two cheese pizzas, two Ben Ash cheesecake, and one of our steel water bottles filled with New York City tap water. It was all marvelous. I showed Beca and James the first season of the Tenth Doctor series of Doctor Who. Soon we will be on the second season, and eventually Torchwood. I am struggling to keep my mouth shut regarding the possible identity of the Face Of Boe.

Today, I am in a very vicious and violent fibromyalgia flare-up. I can't think straight. But I am starting to feel better. Beca and James are here. We will all be going to the movies and dinner later. I should be better by then. I've taken medication and performed some stretching exercises.

Ok this might be a dumb question but... what's special about NYC tap water?

It is extremely soft water -- the rating is around 2, which is amazing. Soft water makes food taste better, it helps skin and hair become soft and healed, it causes fewer health problems. The harder water is, the more damaging it can be to the body and the digestive system, and it makes food taste bad. Hard water means more sediment and minerals.

Every time I am in NYC and have a shower, my hair and skin feel like silk. I retain moisture more easily, blemishes clear up faster, my hair doesn't shed or break. Bread is more moist and is more easily crisped when baked. Hence the pizza dough and the bagels being as delicious as they are.

If you do a search, you can probably find out how soft or hard your own tap water is. Beca has said that Las Vegas water has a hardness of 16 -- it leaves sediment behind.

Interesting. When I took pool operator courses I learned about hard water leaving sediment deposits behind, like on the metal ladders in pools and stuff. They also said soft water can strip the minerals out of the sides of the pool though. I guess it doesn't apply to humans and such since it's not like you live in it. Now I'm curious what mine is. Going to see if I can find out now! *looks it up*

If I'm reading the map correctly, I think mine is 7-8 grains per gallon. Which I think I am because it says the other part of my area has really hard water: 18-20, and my hair doesn't feel like straw so I'm thinking it's the lower one! Now quite silk, but not bad. :)

*hugs* The "can't think straight" thing is the worst. I'm currently doing it too. My clock reads 5:27 (well, in double vision, anyhow, so it's like 55:2277 overlapping...) but I can't recall the day. It's been driving me nuts for about 10 minutes now, and then, I remembered that all I had to do was look at my phone, and it would give me the date - Thursday, 3/11. Gah. I hate my brain.

I hope the flare-up is lessening a bit more and that you definitely do something fun tonight as a distraction. You deserve it, love. *hugs*

New York style pizzas are the BEST! I can't wait to have pizza almost every night when we're in New York City in October for Comic Con. Have you ever had the cheesy pretzels that are sold in those vending carts? Those are heavenly...

I've been in constant pain these past couple days, too. I think mine was triggered by some filing I had to do at work yesterday. I sympathize, and I hope you feel better. *Very Gentle Hugs* <-- if you want them. :-)
