Whenever I read about a celebrity couple splitting up, I feel surprised. I shouldn't. I want to find a list of celebrity relationships (marriage, cohabitation, etc) that have lasted until death. I bet it's short. I think the only celebrity break-ups I would feel sad about might be Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt, and Christina Hendricks and Geoffrey Arend. I honestly doubt those couples would split up, but if they did I would be sad.

I have been working out steadily and slowly for about an hour now. It has not hurt as much as it has in the past. I credit the stretching, the breathing, the Cha De Bugre pills, and the Alfalfa pills.

Rose keeps jumping onto my lap, putting her paws on my shoulders, and nuzzling me. It's a little difficult to write with a cat in the way. Adorable, though.

I've found a new snack obsession: Power Crunch Bars in Peanut Butter Fudge. They're wafers. They're caloric and nutritionally dense enough to serve as a quick breakfast. They have no high fructose corn syrup, and no sucralose. They're high in whey protein. They're filling. They taste amazing. They're like wafer cookies but are sort of healthy. I love them as much as I love the Greens Plus Chocolate Peanut Butter Protein Bar (which has a little soy, but not enough to affect me). I get them at Trader Joe's. I ate my last one this morning. I need to go back to Trader Joe's soon.
(I hate Splenda/sucralose so much that I will avoid products I might enjoy just because they contain sucralose. I hate the aftertase, I hate the stomach cramps it gives me, I hate that companies assume that everyone wants sucralose in everything. I am aware that Splenda is a godsend for many people, and that's awesome, more Splenda for them. Maybe one day I will get used to the taste. But not today.)

Also, I just realized that if my soy sensitivity were worse, I would be extremely sad, because I wouldn't be able to enjoy so many organic snack bars. I do admit, though, that insisting throught clenched teeth that "Too much soy causes a mild allergic reaction, quit trying to push your fucking tofu on me" can be amusing.

Yes, hello, Rose, I love you too. Rose says hello.

I know what you mean about Splenda. That, and Sorbitol, and aspartame. EW aftertaste. If it isn't all-natural sweetener or regular old sugar, I won't touch it. It's gross. (And some people can't taste that?!? What is wrong with their taste buds?!?)

I can't even accurately describe the taste of Splenda. It's... bitter and sour and acidic and rough and scratchy and plasticky and artificial and just plain WEIRD. All I know is when I drink or eat something that contains it, there's this horrid taste in my throat and nose.
Some people say that stevia tastes similar, but I don't agree. Stevia can be bitter, but it doesn't have the bizarre weirdness of Splenda.
Aspartame is guaranteed to give me headaches and stomach aches. Sorbitol seems to have a mild laxative effect on me. GAH.
I haven't had chewing gum in years...

Stevia has the same aftertaste for me; I can't even tell all the fake sugars apart (I know some of them are supposedly real, just split in half or something, but it's all fake to me).

Sorbitol has that effect on my mom. She's diabetic. Imagine how much fun THAT is. :P

Yeah, Stevia's aftertaste is very strange. But I think I'd take it over Splenda. To me, it's a little more herbal-bitter than mechanical-bitter, if that makes sense. I can deal with herbal-bitter.

Augh, hugs to your mom!

Now you've got me thinking about getting a few different types of drinks or food sweetened with different types of sweeteners and see just what each aftertaste is actually like.

This would be a very very bad idea, as there would be lots left over and nobody would eat it... :)

But it would be an interesting experiment!

Hm. Maybe I'll talk to my mom, we could do it at Christmas and then she and Dad could eat whatever's left over. (Dad can't tell the difference between regular and Diet drinks.)

Sounds like a good plan!

I share your distaste for the sucralose! It does not taste like food to me.

It tastes mechanical and chemical!

What's your thoughts on Truvia?

I like it better than any other artificial sweetener on the market so far, It has a slightly herbal-bitter taste, but I'm fine with it. I use to take a stevia tincture.

So is Truvia the same as Stevia, then?

Yes. I don't know if it's exactly stevia with no processing, but Truvia is from the stevia plant.
