There are chronic pain sufferers who can barely get through a day without medication of some kind. There are chronic pain sufferers who have managed to control pain without medication at all. There are chronic pain sufferers who don't like taking pain medications and push through the pain as much as possible. There are chronic pain sufferers who try to get through pain without medication unless it becomes unbearable.
I'm in the last category. And this is unbearable. I wound up taking a Tylenol 3 - the codeine has helped enough. I have several pills left over from the epic migraine episode.
Part of me is arrogant and defiant, saying "I refuse to defend or justify taking pain medication to people who think I may become addicted." I then realize that this is ridiculous. I really don't need to defend or justify anything.

I'm reminded of people who blame victims of bullying, who believe that all the victims need is to toughen up. I almost ended a friendship with an old college friend because of his attitude toward the recent suicides.

Adam is safely in New Mexico, and will be working steadily until Friday morning, when he flies home.

I'm watching an episode of an updated "My Little Pony" series on a new kids' channel. It's in the style of "Powerpuff Girls." It's hilarious. Oh, '80s nostalgia.

I'll never understand why people concern themselves with the medications that others take. It's like, hey, you are NOT my doctor. It is none of your business how, when, or why I take my medication. I appreciate the concern, but hey, the next time you're so sore your hand won't uncurl, why don't you try willing it open with your mind? Or how about the next time you have a migraine, you see how long you can go without medicating it?

*Hugs* I totally sympathize. I fall into a mix of the 3rd and 4th categories.

I also have an unreasonable fear of becoming addicted after taking just one pill, but I come from a long line of addicts in my family. *Sighs*

I just had to write something to this post because it resonates with me so well.

I get annoyed by never-in-pain folks and never-had-a-single-mild-headache folks who claim we're wimps, and should just be one with that imaginary experience you claim you have, and it would be gone.

Recently, my priestess, who'd never had a headache in her life, had a bad sinus headache that might have been a migraine. That was such a revelation to her. She'd never been unkind, but she just had never had that experience, and is glad that she doesn't have it on a regular basis.

I think my husband fears becoming dependent on pain meds, but then he doesn't do anything sensible like see what could prevent the migraines.
