Because I am feeling physically and psychologically decent at the moment, you get to be subjected to my face with no makeup, no touch-ups, and my standard soft smile with my sparkling mocha brown eyes and insanely pale complexion that somehow tans in sunny climates (Thank you, ancestors from Sicily, Greece, Hungary, Romania, and Russia). And my hair is behaving. It maybe be dyed with a "Gold Mocha Medium Brown" shade but it is extremely close to my natural color anyway.

I really impressed myself by taking this photo. Normally I wouldn't do anything like this, especially bare-faced. Also, it shows the asymmetry from the cerebral palsy spasticity and I feel like that needs to be shown, even if people can't really see it. Adam mentioned it at my disability hearing, and the judge said that he could definitely see it, that the left side of my head is kind of misshapen, bone and muscle and tissue included.

It isn't something that is glaring, even after going over the photo portion by portion, but wow - I honestly don't think I would have noticed if you hadn't pointed it out. Subtle, but once you know what you're looking for, definitely there. Regardless, though - que bella :)

Exactly. People who know what to look for see it immediately, which I always found fascinating. Adam says it's like kiln tears in ceramics - when a ceramic piece in a kiln is hit with a drop of glaze from a piece above, and it forms a perfect teardrop shape. He says that about all my intubation scars too. That all the unusual bits and imperfections make the whole perfect and beautiful in its own way. The judge also agreed, and praised Adam for his artistic skills.

I have a really, really hard time seeing myself as beautiful on most days, without some kind of color, even if it's only concealer. But I've lived with this face all my life, so when everyone tells me I'm beautiful... sure, I'll believe it!
