Hallo, new friends. I've been friended by a bunch of people in the past couple of weeks. Could those new friends step forward and comment on how they found me, why they friended me, and if we'd met in another online media or forum? Because, you know, memory problems. If we met on Facebook, can you tell me your name, or at least part of your Facebook name? Cool.

Date: 2014-05-04 02:24 am (UTC)I have to ask: Are you still a gender abolitionist? Are you agender (which is trans*), or neutrois, or genderfluid? See, I am all about gender being important, just not gender roles or stereotypes. I know people who still prefer terms like male-bodied, female-bodied, for themselves only. Are you okay with that? I wanted to ask because I've run into many abolitonists who are well, very extreme to the extreme. And I know several trans* people who don't like gender-free pronouns and would prefer gendered pronouns. (I've been reading so much, talking to so many people; and just like in the disabled community, the is no One Way.)
People always ask if they can call me Jo. I'm totally comfortable with it. Sometimes I really do feel agender, whilst still embracing my biological sex as assigned female. It's a little weird, which is why I don't talk about it.
I keep buying certain clothes from the Boys section. There is more room. I never understood the way tee shirts are "cut" for girls and for boys.
You know, like this.

I'm so sorry for rambling at you.

Date: 2014-05-13 04:50 am (UTC)I am a gender abolitionist in the sense that I feel a perfect world wouldn't have gender, and I feel that really, there are more genders than there are human beings so finding a word that fits more than one person seems counterproductive. But I also understand that gender, and group identity, is very real in the world we are in now, and I do not desire to push anyone to give up gender (however, gendered expectations I super do push people to give up).
