Allll byyy myseeelf....
Sep. 25th, 2002 11:47 amThird day of being alone at work and handling it rather well. Have been taking Aleve and calcium and stretching every chance I get, so the sciatica is less painful.
I just joined yet another email list, a Buffy list, so hopefully I'll be able to talk about how much I loved the seventh-season opener. Spike's a Malkvaian! Spike's a Malkavian!
It's cute, though, how I keep trying to see the connections between VTM and Buffy: Angel is obviously a Brujah. His sire, Darla, was a Toreador without question. Angel's childe, Drusilla, was a perfect Malkavian (whom I've tried to base Pandora on). And Drusilla sired Spike. Now I thought Spike was a Brujah, judging from his attitude and that flashback to his past with Angelus and Darla. But he may also be a Toreador, because as a human, he was a poet--regardless, a bloody bad poet, but still a poet, I think in the Victorian era. So he's either a rebellious Brujah or a really cynical and disgruntled Toreador.
But now, with the new season and Spike getting his soul back, he's all tortured and creepy with messed-up hair. He talks to himself and hears voices and acts insane. So he's turned into a Malk! Yay! I like Malks.
I know I sound so stupid discussing the moral nuances of a TV show, but I'm a writer and fiction is what I do, so nyah and phhhbbbttt to all you who may mock me. I care not for your eye-rolling and patting me on the head. Besides, i's fun. Joss Whedon is brilliant in the concept, the writing is incredible, the acting is fantastic, and it puts a lot of "minorities" in a good light: witches, magic, demons, spirits, young cute women who kick ass...
It just sucks that they killed Tara. I hope something can be done about that.
Back to work I go. Lots of work to be done. Books to shelve, periodicals to deliver and file, entries to, lawyers to obey and placate and do the bidding of. Laters.
