Adam left for Atlanta this morning; we spent an hour in bed beforehand, spooned comfortably. And it finally became very cold. I turned on the heat, up to 66 degrees (I like even numbers). I do not believe it will snow for a few more weeks, but the biting cold has me somewhat relieved; it is December after all.

I trimmed my hair a little. I haven't been to a salon or stylist with scissors in over a year. I never liked when other people cut my hair. I would ask for a small, simple trim and they would take off four inches. I don't want to pay for that. I bought a pair of hair cutting scissors, ice tempered stainless steel. When I trim, I put my hair in a ponytail and pull it over a shoulder and trim gently, repeat on the other side. Mom doesn't understand why I want such long hair, to grow down to my waist. It's hard to explain other than I just want it, I find it wonderful.

Wrote a few pages in the novel, a good scene between Dana and Jeremy on the astral plane. The tide is starting to turn. Good.

Eating currently: Newman's Own Sweet Dark Orange Dark Chocolate Bar.
Going to eat shortly: Baked ziti ordered from the Italian deli down the road.

I smell like Anna Bellina's Bliss signature fragrance. The Bliss Elixir lotion. My skin feels like the skin of a baby, all velvet and silk. White lotus, real amber resin oil, white and red roses, jasmine, neroli, vanilla. Psychoactive, brain wave relaxants, enhancing chakras and sensual energies, promoting serenity and peace and tranquility.

Neil Gaiman talks about Anansi Boys -- and the importance that a lime plays in the story. At this moment, I have not gotten to the part with the lime. But I did laugh happily when Neil showed his stunt lime.
He has a wonderfully melodic, mellifluous voice. I wish I could meet him in person one day. I think he'd be fantastically funny and sweet.

"You never learn how to write a novel. You just learn how to write the novel that you're writing." - Gene Wolfe to Neil Gaiman, August 2000

"I kept naming my protagonist: There's a magic to names, after all. I knew his name was descriptive. I tried calling him Lazy, but he didn't seem to like that, and I called him Jack and he didn't like that any better. I took to trying every name I ran into on him for size, and he looked back at me from somewhere in my head unimpressed every time. It was like trying to name Rumpelstiltskin." - Neil Gaiman, February 2001, on writing American Gods

"I make them up. Out of my head." - Neil Gaiman, on where he gets his story ideas

This touched my heart so deeply.

Neil Gaiman says, "...I was once found and got by a feral white cat I barely knew who somehow persuaded me to follow her, mostly by taking a few steps at a time and looking exasperated and worried, and eventually led to the place where one of her kittens was strangling on netting."

The unbelievable intelligence that animals have, the way they speak to humans, never ceases to amaze and delight me. I hope that kitten went on to live a long, good life.
