Getting worse. Slowly but getting. I am losing spoons quickly.

I took a dose of DL-Phenylalanine. It usually takes effect within twenty minutes. L-Tyrosine would be quicker, since DLPA converts to tyrosine, but the tyrosine is at home. I took one tyrosine capsule this morning. I should have taken two. These two supplements are very effective for lower back pain, as effective as any Advil or Bayer. Also, ashwagandha, which is anti-inflammatory and, from several reports, "is used to ease nerve pain such as sciatica, numbness, muscle spasm and back pain".

While I was walking to and from the sandwich shop for lunch, I could barely keep my back straight. Too tight. Things are too tight and they burn. I'm not even taking stairs, not even one flight. Hurts too much.

My feet feel numb. Sciatica and nerve pain. It's in my shoulders. Even my hands are tingling.

I wish I could remember the proper yoga stretches. I can't keep hobbling like this. I can hardly walk now.

... The phenylalanine has kicked in, after 45 minutes. I feel no sharp screaming twinge anymore, just dull warm throbbing which I can handle. I can even straighten up without wincing. Now let's see how long this lasts.

And I walk everywhere.

The yoga position that helps me most with my back troubles is the Bridge (Sethu Badhasana): http://yoga.org.nz/postures/bridge_yoga_instruction.htm

Ahh, thank you! I knew it was something like that. I keep having an almost violent and desperate urge to bridge my back anyway -- I think my body knows exactly what it wants and my brain is waffling.

Also, with bridge pose, you can use a bolster or pillow under your back as support if the muscles are strained too much.
Happy Friday, by the way. :)

you should look for cramp bark tincture. its an anti-spamatic, and a good one. when my cramps get bad, i used to have to take prescription painkillers just to be able to function. now-a-days i just take 30-40 drops in a little water 3-4 times a day and all i need is an advil. i know that's not the issue at hand today, but the thought came into my head -hugs- love you.

In fact, one of my best friends who is also my 'sister', is going to school for professional massage therapy. I'm really proud of her, since she recently turned 20 and she already knows what she wants in life.

That is wonderful. It's good to have that good of knowledge of yourself while young. :)

If you lived here I'd show you to the most fabulous chiropractor who works on Josie's screwed up back/body. He's great :)

If he is anything like the one near me, he must be a miracle worker. I haven't been back to this guy for a while because I'm not sure if he will take my new insurance; I will have to check. He is the one who molded my new custom orthotics. He is very unconventional and not traditional and that is what I love. He goes straight to the source rather than just the symptoms. Just one or two sessions leave you feeling wonderful.

Do you ever end up taking painkillers to help weather the storm when it gets too bad? There are dermal patches that can work wonders on even the most severe pain. Might be something to consider any way.

Yeah... I just took some prescription naproxyn, which is something I do only when it is really bad. Where would I get the patches?

For the dermal patches I’m talking about you would need a prescription.

The right dosage of that stuff and you could have your arm ripped off at the joint and you might not even notice.

That's why I've been drinking espresso with milk all week. It seems to honestly help somehow.

Hokay, so this may be a weird question, but how does DL-phenylalanine differ from the phenylalanine in nutra-sweet?

*gentle hugs* good luck with the stretching for relief!
