Smallville season finale episode "Phantom"
Buh. Guh. Duh. Wuh.
Uh.
Woahhh.
So, for weeks now, they've been hinting that one of the four central characters (Clark, Lex, Lana, Chloe) will die in the season finale. Like, really die. Like, the actor's contract is up or something similar. Not coming back. Clark and Lex are obvious no-kills, because Clark is the reason for the show and Lex will be around next season according to his actor. So that left the women. Lana is a canon character, Chloe is not but is being sewn into Superman's history. The death of either would probably drive Clark Kent to his destiny -- and Lana is not supposed to be his one true love, Lois is (unless the show totally veers off in a new direction); and Chloe is just Clark's trusty friend who is crushing on him.
What I did not expect was for both of them to die. Now we won't know who is actually dead until next season. *bites nails*
Then again... Lana supposedly is killed when her Jeep explodes. However, she could have miraculously gotten out at the last second, or been propelled some distance by the blast. Chloe dies after her tears magically bring Lois back to life from a knife wound in the gut. She literally sacrifices herself, her own life, for her cousin's. But is she really dead? Can she come back?
My money is on Lana being really dead. They build up the episode for it. She finally tells Clark that they can be together because she wants to divorce Lex, and Clark finally reveals his powers to her. They seem too happy to live happily ever after, right? Right?
Gods damn you, cliffhangers!
