(The guy in the background in the first picture is my husband, by the way)

Back in March, Charlotte began seeing a white and gray cat wandering the woods around her house. Over time, Charlotte coaxed the stray to her with bowls of dry cat food, and eventually the stray warmed up to her and began looking for affection. Last week, Charlotte brought the cat into her house, but her own three cats didn't take too well to a new cat. So, Friday night, Adam and I went over there and took the stray to our house. She spent the night in the spare bedroom with a litter box and some food. This morning, we took her to the vet, named her Penelope, got her checked out, got her vaccinated, and gave her flea and tick medication, as well as bought some for Luna and Jupiter. Because Penelope had been through enough stress and needed time to adjust, the vet recommended that we wait to get her fixed until her next distemper shot in a month. So, in December, we'll go back and get her spayed. She appears to be about a year and a half to two years old and is very affectionate and sweet. We are slowly letting her and the other two cats get to know each other. There was some hissing, and Jupiter seems more scared than hostile. Luna, naturally, is very curious and tried to sniff her before getting a smack on the head. Over time, I think, they will warm up to each other, all three of them.
A big issue is whether or not Penelope could be pregnant, because we can't tell. However, we'll find out in a month when we take her back to the vet. I'm not too worried about it right now.
I'm just happy we could save a cat's life and give it a good, happy home.

So that's been my weekend so far. How was yours?

Congrats on the new kitty. I'd love to have another one, but, Winter, the resident feline, would not stand for it. She delights in being an only cat.

This will probably sound insane but something in her expression reminds me of you!

That does make sense, although I couldn't say why!

Argh, I wish the kitty was mine. I have mongrel dog instead. ::pokes dog laying on top of couch::

I'm not really a dog person either. Adam wants to get another dog (he owned Ralph for over twenty years, after all) but I'm a little wary.

Of course, I'd really prefer a reptile, like a snake.

You can have my roommate's rainbow boa. He's really pissy, though.

Worry not. I am Parseltongue.

Then you need to come over here and make him quit being so pissy.

Depends on what's in it for me. Juicy mouse, perhaps?

Yay for the new kitty! If she's pregnant, the vet will take care of it, usually at no extra charge with the spay.

Oh, that's good. That's what happened with Luna -- she was pregnant when she came to the shelter, but nobody realized until she went to get spayed. They performed the surgery with no extra charge, even though the incision had to be wider to accomodate the stretched uterus.
Would it still be an abortion if it's a full hysterectomy along with removing the fetuses?

does she haz shots?

Yep, she just needs to go back in a month for her second distemper -- and the vet suggested the spay surgery then, just because she's been through enough stress without going through major surgery right off the bat. She even gt tested for common feline illnesses. We made sure the vet was very thorough.

And I realized that I forgot to mention the shots, so I put that in. D'oh.
