I'm calm. Really.

It's the day after. I think that no matter what happens, Saturday, Februrary 16 2008 will be a permanent mental etching. Because, you know, OMGWTFSTEPHENKINGARGH.
Okay, so. To reiterate and make it really real for me:
STEPHEN KING LOVES MY WRITING. STEPHEN KING WANTS TO SHOW THE FIRST CHAPTER OF MY NOVEL TO HIS PUBLISHER.
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHH.
Okay, done.
I emailed Mary Twitty yesterday to thank her for requesting my chapter in the first place and submitting it to her writing group with OMGSTEPHENKINGARGH. I have not heard back yet, but that is fine, because I don't expect things to happen right away. Not even in a month. Not even in six months. But I have a foot in the door. A toe. My pinky toe. Which is very tiny for a toe, because my shoe size is anywhere from a five to a six (between sandals and boots with orthotics). But the door is slightly nudged a crack, perhaps enough for one of my cats to nudge it open the rest of the way. Maybe eventually, I'll get an email or a phone call. Maybe it will be from OMGSTEPHENKINGARGH himself. Maybe it'll be one of his people. I have no idea. Okay, I barely even know where to send what I need to send to make anything happen. All I know is that I was told that OMGSTEPHENKINGARGH said I was a brilliant writer. And I take that for what it's worth. Even though I am sure I am not the first aspiring novelist that he has praised like this. Because OMGSTEPHENKINGARGH has been writing for longer than I've been alive, and I am sure that in that time he has seen many a young talent emerge. But this is the first time I've heard of it.
Oh, hey, I'm shaking again. This is exciting.
All I know is that I want to be around people. But I think everyone is busy. Hey, people? If you live within decent driving distance of me and you're not busy, please come over? I'm almost out of my husband's last bottle of scotch whiskey and I need someone to toast with.

Date: 2008-02-17 08:21 pm (UTC)Hey, speaking of seeing people, if Loudoun County isn't too far a drive for you, Laurie and I are going to try to put together a dinner at a restaurant somewhere near Ashburn or Sterling on Sat., 2/23, to see people we might otherwise miss because we'll be up for such a short time. If you think this is a possibility for you, e-mail me. :)

Date: 2008-02-18 04:04 am (UTC)I'm not *surprised* that OMGSTEPHENKINGARGH said you are a brilliant writer. You *are* a brilliant writer. :D He just found it out!
And I'm guessing that if he wants to show you to his publisher, he must think your brilliant writing will sell. Otherwise, why bother showing it to them? :D
I wish you continued good luck with this. I am so happy for you!
