Cats: Better than sitcoms

The scene in the kitchen yesterday evening:

Luna, staring intently at the floor: Oooh, what are you?
Bug, crawling diligently across the floor: Meep! Scurry!
Luna: Oh, no, you don't! *paw smash*
Jupiter: Heey, what's that?
Luna: I dunno, but it looks interesting -- Hey you! Why are you moving?
Bug: *scuttle scuttle scuttle*
Luna: Get back here! *paw smash*
Jupiter: Erm... it's still moving. *poke*
Luna: Oh, for the love of Bast... *bite, nibble, taste* Hmm, this doesn't taste as good as I thought. *spits out*
Bug: *SCURRY*
Jupiter: Still moving! *jumps three feet*
Luna: Well, then, catch it!
Jupiter: Nuh-uh! You catch it! Wait, hang on, it's shiny! Ooh! *pounce*
Me: *blink* Shiny...?
Jupiter: *bite, nibble, taste* Hmmm. Crunchy! *crunch*
Me: Was that thing shiny?
Jupiter: *licks lips* Hey, that wasn't bad! Mom, can we have gooshyfood now?
Me: You just ate a bug! A shiny bug!
Jupiter: Yeah, but... gooshyfood! Noooowwww.
Me: Oh, fine, gooshyfood. *gets can of wet food, scoops food into bowl*
Luna and Jupiter: *appreciate interpretive dancing* MOW MOW MOW MOW MOW MOW. *gobble, chew, slurp*
Me: *continues making salad, gets out bag of grilled chicken*
Jupiter: OMFG! CHICKEN! YAY! WANT! MOW!
Me: *throws up hands* Bug! Gooshyfood!
Luna: Chicken?
Me, giving in: Okay, fine. Chicken. *gives them bits of chicken meat*
Luna and Jupiter: *appreciate interpretive dancing* MOW MOW MOW MOW MOW MOW. *gobble, chew, slurp*
Jupiter: Thanks, Mom! Love you! *runs off*
Luna: He is so unrefined. *washes face*
Me: Can I finish my dinner now? Or will there be another floor show?
Luna: Not unless I find another bug.
Me: You're so weird.
Luna: You're the one talking to a cat.

Jupiter does that with paper towels. Luna used to do it with toilet tissue before we got a new roll holder. Drove me nuts. I'd walk into the bathroom to find a brand new roll all over the floor, and Luna looking at me like, "What? It was fun!"

I love trying to translate, because Luna and Jupiter each have such distinctive meows. Luna's is a chirpy high-pitched soprano note, and Jupiter's is a long drawn-out whiny yowl.

This is one of the best macros yet. This would be Jupiter and Luna, all innocent and nonchalant.

Oh that looks hauntingly familiar...
