The Return To Innocence

I have been getting very well acquainted with the new turtle since Adam has been gone. He recognizes me now. When I approach the tank, he will either stretch his head out and look at me if he's sitting on the piece of wood, or actively swim to the edge of the tank and look at me. Several times a day, I've been picking him up, handling him so he knows human touch. He'll take food pellets from my hand. Of course I always wash my hands after touching the turtle or the water. I'd rather not possibly get salmonella.
Now that Adam is back, he can get acquainted. Donatello was slightly shy when Adam reached in to pick him up, but Adam was in fact the first human to touch him, so it was rather cute when Adam stroked Donatello's head and shell and Donatello seemed to enjoy it.

Yes, I anthropomorphize my pets too much.
