Now drinking tea
May. 24th, 2011 05:58 pmToday, I learned three neat things: Walking from White Flint Metro to Whole Foods is easier than it looks, getting caught in a downpour while walking home is surprisingly fun, and a leather purse becomes beautifully water-resistant when rubbed down with a beeswax salve.
I shop very selectively at Whole Foods, because certain juices and teas are considered "normal" there while at a regular grocery store they would be called "exotic" and expensive. I stocked up on Sambazon Acai juices (Acai with Yerba Mate and Guarana) and a few blends of tea and juice that were half the cost of similar blends at Safeway or Giant. Also, another bottle of Andalou Naturals Hand Cream, which contains tamanu, seabuckthorn, acai, goji, and other antioxidant oils. It's cheap and worth it for the lack of shipping rates.
I walked back to the Whole Flint station easily as clouds gathered and the sky grew heavier. At the Shady Grove metro, I caught the 57 bus quickly, and as the bus neared my neighborhood stop, rain began falling. By the time I crossed the street to my townhouse community, the rain was pouring so hard that I was soaked. I hadn't brought an umbrella. It didn't really matter. The rain felt great. The humidity had been too intense. My light gray-blue leather Stone Mountain handbag, which had been conditioned earlier, lasted well. Water was beading up on the leather and it looked quite pretty.
I feel... okay. Sore and achy and full of tingling nerves. But I expected that, with the weather.
