My research in holistic skin therapy is turning to makeup and colors. One of my favorite products is the Miessence Concealer. I use the color Fair, which is one of the very few colors in any makeup brand that is actually pale enough for me. I cannot use drugstore makeup, or even department store makeup. The colors are either too pink and dark or too yellow and dark; and the few neutral colors are usually too dark as well. My complexion is an extremely pale neutral leaning toward yellow. I wear concealer as foundation, and the only brands I have found that have colors for me have been Cinema Secrets Ultimate Foundation (color 601-18), Ben Nye Matte Foundation (color Shinsei Ivory SH-O), Cory Cosmetics Velvet Cream Foundation Stick (color Whipped Cream), and now Miessence Concealer (color Fair). I'm also tempted to try Youngblood Ultimate Concealer in Fair.
There will be a new addition in a few weeks. There's a mineral makeup website, Alchemist's Apprentice, that offers a cream concealer with avocado oil. I emailed the owner, Pamela, to ask if the Fair concealer would match my skin, and I provided a photo of me (the full version of my usericon). Pamela emailed back saying that she can actually customize a personal color for me, that she does customizations but just hasn't mentioned it on her site. So, we spoke over the phone about it. I then discovered that Pamela is very much like me. She is very pagan, connected to the earth and the elements, etc etc. We chatted and laughed and seemed like old friends who just found each other again. Pamela said she would send me some samples of her powder mineral foundations and I would mix and match until I found something for me. The samples arrived quickly, and I immediately found what I needed: A half and half blend of the colors Linen and Vanille, which are both listed as "light golden ivory" with Linen being the fairer shade. Pamela says that the process will take four weeks, since the person who helps her mix her colors is on the West Coast (Pamela is in Georgia). She's going to let me know when my concealer is ready for purchasing. And then at last I will have a makeup color exactly suited to my specific personal shade.
I love this.

I'm not sure if I'm that pale, but I'm pale enough...not exactly sure how pale I am. :D If you're ever under a fluorescent light does it look like you skin is about to start glowing in the dark if the light is turned off and become its own light source? I saw my hand do that after work once.

Yes, my skin actually has "glowed" a few times. The full version of my userinfo photo shows me in direct sunlight -- in August -- with no makeup. I'm practically luminescent. And that's with a summer "tan" (I use the word lightly, pun intended)

I feel your pain!

I've found Lancome mousse foundation really good- I use Ivory.

I thought Lancome would work for me, but it turns out that all their palest colors are still not right for me!
