raising Penelope

Adam and I have decided that it's time to find a new home for Penelope. She would thrive in a household where she is the only cat -- she's too territorial here. She refuses to leave the spare bedroom. She has attacked and marked both Jupiter and Luna. She refuses to get along with them. The only way she comes downstairs is when one of us carries her. And then she won't move. She'll stay on a couch with us, but once we're gone, she hides under tables and behind couches, and she snarls at Jupiter. She won't voluntarily find the food in the kitchen or litter box in the closet next to the living room, not until she gets back upstairs.
She is sweeter than pie to any human she sees. Truly loving and gentle and demanding of attention. She adores human contact. She'll purr and purr for you.
Feline contact, not at all. She's driven Luna off so many times that Luna has become overly wary of that side room. Penelope seems to have that stray cat mentality in spades -- the wild cats in Charlotte's neighborhood were vicious, and her driving instinct is to protect herself. She doesn't realize that our cats won't harm her.
It's not fair to her, this life right now, hiding from the house cats, refusing to walk and run free in the house.
We will keep her for as long as it takes. Months, a year, however long. She's ours. But if someone who is currently cat-less comes forward and wants her, we shall go through an interview, a home visit, hours of meeting, and we will make sure that little kitty-girl goes to a home and a human (or two) who will be the best cat parent for her. We've already asked some friends, but we're still waiting to hear back.
If anyone in my area would like her, feel free to comment.
